For the Fall 2019 City of Calabasas Recreation Brochure, I set out to capture the spirit of creativity, community, and play through the metaphor of a stage performance, inviting the viewer into a world of imagination.

At the center, a wooden marionette figure embodies freedom, self-expression, and the playful unpredictability of life, qualities that reflect the diverse programs and opportunities offered by the Recreation Department.

Surrounding details enrich the scene with touches of seasonality and theatrical mystery, encouraging the viewer to make their own discoveries and interpretations. Together, the composition underscores the difference between passively watching life from the sidelines and stepping onto the stage to participate.

This design was my way of celebrating the City’s vibrancy, welcoming residents to cut loose and take part, step out of the audience, and embrace the stage of their own creativity.
