Civic & Social Work Samples

City of Calabasas

For over twenty years with the City of Calabasas, I served as videographer and editor for public-facing communications supporting the Mayor, City Council, and executive leadership. I produced and shaped speeches, policy initiatives, civic events, and community programs into clear, accessible digital content for web and social distribution. Working closely with elected officials and senior staff, I refined messaging through editorial structure, pacing, logo design, and graphics integration to ensure tone accuracy, clarity, and professional presentation. The projects below represent municipal communications crafted to inform residents and reinforce community engagement.

Be Prepared Safety Fair – City of Calabasas

A short highlight video covering the City’s “Be Prepared Safety Fair,” an outdoor community event focused on emergency preparedness and public safety awareness. The video showcases local first responders, city agencies, and civic partners sharing resources on disaster readiness, emergency alerts, and safety planning. Through aerial and ground-level footage, it captures community engagement, informational booths, and emergency vehicles, emphasizing collaboration between local government and residents to promote preparedness and public trust.

Green Street Project – City of Calabasas

The Green Street Project at the northern end of Las Virgenes Road was completed and celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by city leaders and community members. The project introduced a stormwater capture and treatment system to improve flood mitigation, extended and enhanced the Las Virgenes Trail, added parking for residents and hikers, improved pedestrian safety, and transformed the corridor into a more welcoming and visually appealing public space.

De Anza Sport Court Ribbon Cutting

In 2024, the City celebrated the grand reopening of the newly renovated Sport Court at De Anza Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony that brought the community together.

This video looks back at that special day, capturing the bright blue multi use surface, players enjoying the improved facility, and the strong sense of community surrounding the event.

The ceremony marked an important milestone for De Anza Park, highlighting the City’s ongoing commitment to recreation, wellness, and community connection.

Jerry O’Connell – Woolsey Fire, 5 Years Later

This piece centers on a candid conversation with Jerry O’Connell as he reflects on his close call during the 2016 Old Fire and the lasting impact of the Woolsey Fire on the Calabasas community.

The interview was shaped with an emphasis on authenticity, preserving natural pauses, laughter, and unscripted moments to retain honesty and personality.

Produced during my time with the City of Calabasas, the project was directed, shot, lit, and recorded on location, with post production completed to craft the final piece.
